Year-Round Gifts: Do you need a gift to help you through a rough spot?

You can apply online quickly and easily for help from Need-A-Break Services.

How It Works:
Fill out our Gift Request Form and submit it for review. You may also download, print and mail in the applications. Be as detailed as possible about your situation when applying.

Application Time:
Once all the needed information is received from the applicant, the application will be submitted to the Gift Review Committee and approval or denial will be granted in 1-7 days.

Paint Tacoma-Pierce Beautiful

Do you need your house painted? Our partner organization, Paint Tacoma-Pierce Beautiful, is accepting applications for home painting until April 15th. You can request an application for this program here.

About the program:

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be low-income senior (60 or older) or low-income disabled (on SSI) homeowners who are unable to do the work themselves. The homes must be owner-occupied, which means that the applicant must be living in the home and must be the owner (i.e., no rentals). Homes also must be in Tacoma or Pierce County.

Where's the Catch?
There is none! We know that it sounds too good to be true, and if you would like to contact some of the homeowners we've served, let us know.
This program is possible because of the generosity of hundreds of people in the community. The labor is all free (volunteers), and all paint and repair materials are purchased with funds that have been given to us for that purpose (See Donors and Contributors).

Selection Process
Members of the Paint Tacoma-Pierce Beautiful Planning Committee will screen applicants and schedule appointments to look over proposed projects. Proof of income will be required during the visit. Applications will be rated according to a number of factors, including applicant's income and how badly the house needs to be painted. Those homes in greatest need of a paint job will have priority. The size of the house and the scope of the work involved also will be considered in the selection process. Homes needing extensive repair prior to painting will not be considered as there are no funds for major repairs. Some 2-story houses may be beyond the scope of our volunteers. Applicants will be notified by mid-July whether their home has been chosen.
