Over 100 volunteers gave their time this fall to some great projects and helped many wonderful families in need with major yard cleanup and home repair. Here are just a few photos from these events:
Saturday, July 26th, Need-A-Break provided a major home repair and paint project for an elderly widow in Pierce County! Thank you to all of the volunteers and donors that made this possible!
Saturday, July 12th, Need-A-Break provided two major home repair projects for families in Pierce County! Thank you to all of the volunteers and donors that made this possible!
On May 10th, Need-A-Break had a very successful community service project day. Projects included yard cleanup, minor home repair, and other items. Eight crews and over 100 volunteers combined to provide eight life-changing gifts to those in need in our community.
Many thanks to the volunteers and donors that made this day possible:
Saturday, February 16th Need-A-Break Services restored the home of a family that lost possessions due to flooding. We performed a cleanup of the flood damage as well as organization and cleanup to leave the home even better than before. We gifted her some new appliances as well. She is a single mother who is working to make life better for her and her family.
Volunteer Opportunity for elderly woman-Help Needed!
Need-A-Break Services worked with Pierce County Volunteer Chore Services to help an elderly woman in need be saved from impending homelessness. She needed vital home repairs to be able to move back into her home.
Need-A-Break Services launched our first ever "Holiday Break" program in an effort to help those in need of a little extra help during the holiday season. We asked for requests from the community as well as donations for the program. We received exactly 14 donations and 14 requests for this program, making it possible to grant every request! 14 families will now have a merrier Christmas because of Need-A-Break.
Need-A-Break Services was featured in The News Tribune in an article by Kathleen Merryman as part of a regional movement to take extreme measures on home renovations for people in need.
On November 3rd, Need-A-Break Services successfully performed an extreme home makeover for the McKay Family.
Mr. McKay has been diagnosed with incurable cancer and has been given months to live. His family's home in Port Orchard was badly in need of repairs and his illness had made them unable to take care of the repairs on their own. His wish was that his home can be restored so that he will know that his family is taken care of.
PGA Pro players came to Tacoma to participate in the Chambers Bay Skins Game on October 10th. This was a tournament that benefitted four charities. Need-A-Break Services was named one of these benefitting charities, and Michael Putnam played on behalf of our organization. This was an exciting event for Need-A-Break Services and for the Puget Sound area!
On September 8th and 9th, Need-A-Break Services successfully performed an extreme home makeover for Sue Gorman. Sue was thrilled at her new home and said that it was like her dream home. She smiled more at the revealing of her home than she had at all recently. We had over 100 volunteers show up on site to help and likely over 150 people behind the scenes that helped get everything prepared and delivered.
Many thanks to all of our volunteers and donors that helped with the Sue Gorman project:

Sue Gorman was attacked in her home on August 20th by 2 pit bulls. They ravaged her home, mauled Sue and sent her to the hospital. Sue and her dog were lucky to survive this unprovoked attack.

Need-A-Break Services sponsored a team of volunteers to partner with Paint Tacoma Beautiful this summer to paint a house for Harry Thompson, a widower in need in our community. Check out photos below from this successful and rewarding event!
